Fraudulent FDIC Email Warning
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has received numerous reports of a fraudulent e-mail that has the appearance of being sent from the FDIC. The subject line of the e-mail states: FDIC Email Scam Alert
 FDIC Transaction Account Gurantee Prog.
American Bank & Trust Company, Inc. is participating in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, through December 31, 2010, all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules.
 Definition of NIB Transaction Accounts
NOW accounts that do not qualify as noninterest- bearing transaction accounts under the Account Program are not eligible for the guarantee. The definition of noninterest-bearing transaction accounts includes Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts and NOW accounts with interest rates no higher than 0.25 percent.
